 | | | Shootout At Buttonwillow | | Mazda opens the door for Nick Evans to begin his pro racing career | | We’ve seen what it takes to pursue dreams of being a pro racer, and frankly it can be a daunting challenge. As much as people would like to think otherwise, moving up through motorsports is more than a simple meritocracy. | URC Exclusive-Nose To The Grindstone It’s almost hard to believe that it has been more than a decade since FWD drag cars started traveling into single-digit ¼-mile elapsed times. In some ways, it doesn’t feel like it was all that long ago that import motorsports legends like Kenny Tran, Stephan Papadakis, and Ed and Ron Bergenholtz were one upping each other at drag strips month in and out, but during the turn of the century the scene was ripe for innovation and progression because of these players and others. 11/18/2009 - Full Article

| URC Exclusive-Made To Order Despite its lack of popularity in the United States, touring car racing remains one of the most competitive and accessible forms of motorsport for many that can’t afford to drop significant coin on a big-league program. It is real wheel-to-wheel competition for the serious, not just some weekend diversion for the halfhearted. 11/11/2009 - Full Article - Event Images

| URC Exclusive-Xpressionism One of the seemingly more unconventional ways car companies get the word out about their cars is to hand a few over to the art community. Everyone from Scion to BMW have seen their fare turned into literal rolling masterpieces, and while we don’t know if this is at all an effective means of marketing, it sure results in some interesting-looking vehicles. 11/2/2009 - Full Article

| URC Exclusive-Life Imitating (Virtual) Art It seems the driving simulator Forza Motorsport 3 is already an unqualified hit among several spheres of influence, and it just barely went on sale to the public yesterday. The gaming press is mostly smitten with its near-photorealistic graphics and ease of accessibility. When we messed with Forza 3 at its official launch last week, we were sufficiently impressed with the detailed level of tuning the sim provides - pretty much blows every other product we’ve seen out of the water. 10/28/2009 - Full Article

| URC Exclusive-2009 SEMA Show Spotter's Guide The writing is, very clearly, on the wall - this year's SEMA Show, running from November 3 to 6, could shape up to be a stinker for the small-displacement tuner crowd. True, the organization throwing the shindig is crowing about potentially strong attendance in spite of the recession, and for lovers of modern pony cars it looks like it'll be a banner year for the Mustang/Camaro/Challenger set, particularly with Ford as the official manufacturer of this year's show. 10/27/2009 - Full Article

| URC Exclusive-Defying Death We have always been fans of one-time prominent sport compact drag racer Gary Gardella and Gardella Racing, his eponymous New Jersey-based team that currently supports Ryan Tuerck and the Mobil 1 Pontiac Solstice in Formula DRIFT. So when we recently got word of a new blog/site he has been working on with good friend Steve Mars, we knew we would at least add the address to our bookmarks and check it out. 10/16/2009 - Full Article
