SEMA Day 2 SEMA Day 2

Barack Obama is elected the new president of the United States of America, and that's cool and all, but we have a giant auto show in Las Vegas to worry about first. Day two we tour the wheel and tire hall and find some interesting new products and vehicles. There were tons of Nissan GTR's and high end vehicles scattered all over the place that had our minds and eyes going at light speed. Check out some of the highlights from our second day of coverage!

Tjin Edition has their finger prints all over SEMA. Not only are they tearing it up in the Honda booth, but you can also find another new project from the Tjin brothers in the General Motors booth with their Mobil 1/ Pontiac G8 CST. This build just screams Neil Tjin, its plain to see the different style of builders the Tjin brothers are. This Pontiac was treated to a complete color change which was just the start of all the madness. Accenting this smooth looking paint job, Tjin also added hand painted pin striping across the sides of the G8 along with some intricate designs on the trunk and hood. The interior of the G8 is a dead give a way that something new is up with Tjin. A custom wrapped Recaro baby seat was upholstered in diamond stitched material with custom Tjin Edition harness pads. Yes ladies and gents, there will be a mini Neil Tjin running around soon causing just as much trouble as his mischievous father. Also accenting the interior is a full audio set up from Focal Audio that transmit the crispest sounds that are sent by a Visteon head unit. Taking a look upwards inside of the G8, you'll find more custom wrapped diamond stitched upholstery that surround a custom installed Webasto moon roof. Also check out the One Lug Wheels that switch styles on each side infront of a set of Corvette Z06 brakes. Tjin Edition is making plans for the future with a Vortech supercharger and a ton of other mods. Congrats to Neil and the family!

On their game, as always, was team 5 Axis this year at SEMA. In the past we have seen creations in the form of a fleet of Scions, and last year 5 Axis debuted their flat black colored IS F which was groundbreaking to say the least. We always look forward to see what crazy creation 5 Axis will come out with at SEMA, and when we got word that 5 Axis would be unveiling their own custom version of a Lexus GS, we had pre SEMA goose bumps all over again. As we entered the Lexus room located just outside of the convention center walls, the new 5 Axis creation screamed out for attention. It was as though the heavens opened up and shone a light only on this Lexus. To start things off, 5 Axis treated the GS to a complete color change using a PPG Satin Titanium Pearl paint with onyx and papaya accents. 5 Axis also supplied themselves with a set of their own wheels, which was fitting. These 5 Axis AD Onyx R5 wheels were no match for stealing attention away from the giant bright orange brakes that resided behind them. The body of the Lexus was modified and made wider, while also sporting a new custom front bumper that looks super aggressive. 5 Axis always delivers, this is the proof.

Here's the update we promised for the Scion challenge, we know you have been waiting at the edge of your seats for the results, you can now stop biting your finger nails. As we showed up to the Scion booth to learn the results from the challenge, we were greeted by a pleasant surprise when we learned that our very own Jackie Ling was chosen as the special guest master of ceremonies. Well, maybe it wasn't all that extravagant but we were still excited about the results for the competition. In third place, Mark Arcenal took home a giant check made out to him for $5,000.00. Second place went to Eddie Hahm with his uniquely styled TC who took home another giant check made out to him for $7,000. This leaves only one more competitor; John Pangilinan with his Porsche blue widebody tC to take home top honors. The judges felt as though Pangilinan's tC was the strongest of the bunch and was worthy enough to go home as the champion of the Scion build off for 2008. Each of the tC's were equally impressive, but John Pangilinan's version was able to hold off the rest of the Scions. Another SEMA Scion build off in the books! We are anxious to see what they will come up with next year!

The subject of many blog posts all over the internet was this Branew Nissan GTR. Branew is famed for creating aero and accessories for high end luxury vehicles and they have definitely brought over their styling and influence onto the GTR. The Branew kit includes a front lip, side skirts, rear diffuser, rear lip spoiler, a functional rear wing, and a triple pipe center mounted exhaust system. The front lip and side skirts have some slick white carbon accents added also. Now, the real question, did anybody notice any of that stuff? The star of the show here ladies and gentlemen are the 23″ wheels that Branew fitted to the GTR. Who would have thought that we'd be fitting Nissan GTR's with giant wheels such as these.

Making a strong appearance again this year is Vossen Wheels, a Miami, Fl based company that has been stirring things up in the luxury and exotic market. A company that started with only one piece wheels has added a new forged line up for 2008 that will include new styles and custom fitments. Vossen Wheels also had a massive new catalog that featured stunning photography and a unique layout, definitely one of the best catalogs we have seen in a while. Keep an eye out for Vossen wheels!

Toyo Tires is always a highlight at SEMA. 2008 is the same story, although, we think they may have out done themselves this year with this super fresh wide body Bentley GT. This GT model was fresh for so many reasons. First things first the flat white paint that covered the GT was unbelievably clean, then to offset the white, the trunk lid, roof, and hood were given a flat black accent that was accentuated with hand painted leaves that set the theme for the exterior and the interior where the leaves were also painted across the dash. This is one of our favorites!

Big engine swaps are becoming the norm and they keep getting more and more impressive every time we see one. We noticed a rather large crowd surrounding this Nissan 350Z, mainly around the engine bay obviously. This Nissan was the recipient of a Toyota 2JZ swap thanks to www.2jzswap.com. The single turbo set up looks like it fits nicely inside the bay of the Nissan while its made to look nice with all sorts of accessories. Not only was this Nissan packing a punch under the hood, but it was also fitted with a set of bad ass Project Mu brakes, Enkei Racing wheels, and Sparco seats.

Cusco, we love you for always building something that makes us love you. Cusco's Subaru STi turned racing death machine is amazing. There aren't many other ways to explain it. When we had leaked photos of this Subaru days before SEMA, we knew we were in for a treat when we had arrived in Las Vegas. Check out those crazy canards under the front bumper, we had to seriously watch our steps as we were getting a close up look at this track monster! Cusco keep up the good work!

Day three is ahead and there is tons more to do and see, stay tuned for more action!
